Why this one is quoted by a person

An assembly price is mostly labour, and labour is sequence: what gets welded before what, which fixture holds it square, how much distortion has to be pulled back out afterwards, whether the hardware goes in before or after finishing. Two assemblies with identical drawings can differ by hours depending on the order they are built in.

There is no formula for that, and a system pretending otherwise would produce a number that falls apart on the shop floor. So somebody who has built one reads your drawing and prices it.

What we need to know

• How it goes together. An assembly drawing, an exploded view, or a 3D model — anything that shows the relationship between parts.
• Which joints are welded, and how. Seam or stitch, one side or both, and whether the weld is cosmetic.
• Whether welds are dressed. Ground flush and blended costs real time; leaving them as-laid does not.
• Hardware. Part numbers if you have them, and who supplies them — us or you.
• What has to be true at the end. A critical dimension across the assembly, a flatness, a fit with a mating part.
• Finish. Powder coating and galvanising happen after welding, and that changes the sequence.

Bought-in parts

If your assembly includes items we do not make — extrusions, castings, bearings, electrical parts — say so in the enquiry. We can usually work with parts you free-issue to the partner shop, and it is far cheaper to plan for that than to discover it mid-build.

The usual shape of a job: the flats are laser cut and priced instantly, the forming and assembly are quoted by us, and the whole thing ships as one delivery on one invoice. You do not have to coordinate three suppliers to get a finished part.
